Nancy Houston is a longtime Thurmont, MD resident and has been an artist for over 35 years. Nancy is a self-proclaimed color junkie, who finds inspiration in color, whether a robin’s egg or a rainy-day gray sky, this is what sparks her creativity. She finds the color, designs, and texture of the Miyuki Delica Bead process to be relaxing. Her evenings are spent creating designs with her “creative team” Kelsey (the cattle dog) and Juno Hernandez (Chihuahua).

She began studying art in her 20’s with Dennis Blalock at Firedrake Fine Arts Studio in Thurmont, MD. Nancy credits Blalock with teaching her to “see”, which was his belief to be an ongoing artistic process. Nancy has been “seeing” ever since!
